St Ives (Cornish: Porth Ia) lies north of Penzance and west of Camborne on the coast of the Celtic Sea. In former times it was commercially dependent on fishing but has become renowned for its number of artists. The Tate St Ives exhibits work by modern British artists, including work of the St Ives School. The three storey building lies on the site of an old gas works, overlooking Porthmeor Beach. The Tate also manages the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden. The St Ives September Festival, runs annually and is one of the longest running and widest ranging Festivals of the Arts in the UK. It last 15 days and includes a range of arts from music to poetry, film, talks and books. St Ives harbour is still a working port where you can watch the local fishermen landing their daily fresh catches of locally caught seafood. It is very sheltered and a perfect sun-trap in the heart of the town. Porthmeor beach has fine golden sand and is a wonderful beach for surfing with a surf school. During the summer trained lifeguards ensure the bathing is as safe as possible. There are restaurant and cafe facilities right on the beach with toilets and beach huts on the terrace behind.

We travelled all the way from malta for a great week at the chypons cottage. The location was perfect as it was between st ives and penzance. We have a 2 year old boy and Julian the host was very accommodating, ensuring we had a high chair, a cot and safety gates for the stairs. The cleanliness of the cottage was immaculate so our first impression was fantastic. There are local walks around the cottage and towns close by so this location would accommodate for every type of holiday you are looking for. Thank you from Malta. Would definitely recommend this cottage for anyone looking for a trip to Cornwall.

The photo's of this property do not do it justice, it is quirky, prettily decorated, warm and very well equipped. We were welcomed with everything to make tea or coffee as well as lovely home made scones with jam and clotted cream, much appreciated. The location is great between St Ives and Penzance so not far to drive to get to all the lovely places around there.

Stayed in the farm cottage as a family of six. We had a wonderful time spent in beautiful surroundings. The location was quiet, relaxing and equidistant to Penzance and St Ives. Good restaurants and pubs all within a short distance. The cottage was sparkling clean with everything provided you could possibly need. Our youngest daughter was introduced to Swingball (down at the summer house in the gardens around the cottage) The owners have fantastic local knowledge and are able to recommend places to eat, drink or explore. The location was very good for heading to Lands End, St Just and any number of the more southern Cornish spots. We had a very relaxing week and would highly recommend staying here.

We are delighted that we found Chypons Farm Cottages. We had a most enjoyable and relaxing stay. Kate and Julian made us feel very welcome, starting with the cream tea that was waiting for us when we arrived. The cottage was well equipped and very attractively presented - we had everything we needed for a very pleasant stay. Chypons Farm is very well situated for St Ives and North and West Cornwall, and we thoroughly recommend it.

We were welcomed with a bottle of champagne, box of chocolates and greeting card on this Christmas Eve.. And kids were so excited about the well decorated Christmas tree.. Julian and Kate were perfect hosts enquiring about our well being throughout the stay. It's a nice place and is close to a number of beaches.. Thanks Julian and Kate for this wonderful stay.

Had an excellent 2 weeks in the lovely Chypons Barn. Spotlessly clean, and well equipped with everything you could possibly need. Such a peaceful and relaxing setting. The friendly owners, Julian & Kate, were always on hand to offer help and guidance for things to do in the area. The homemade scones on arrival were a lovely and delicious touch. We highly recommend Chypons, and will definitely be back !

Fantastic Cornish holiday spent in a very beautiful holiday cottage, with perfect location, for access to all South Cornwal has to offer. The accommodation offers everything you could possibly need and is perfect for young families. Julian and Kate were the perfect hosts, who couldn't do enough for us and provided traditional Cornish cream tea in the cottage on arrival.

Chypons is so peaceful yet only a short distance from many local attractions. The cottage is a real home from home with everything needed for comfortable self catering. The owners are really friendly and welcoming - home made cream tea on arrival - with a wealth of local knowledge to guide you around the area. The summer house in the garden is an extra bonus.

Farm Cottage. Perfect cottage with very helpful owners, who know what you can do, if the sun is shining or it´s raining cats and dogs. Beautiful surroundings, and a nice pub with loveable people and the right music in walking distance. We (family with 3 kids) have had a holiday we´ll never forget.

We really enjoyed our week in Cypons Farm Cottage. The cottage had wonderful character and plenty of space for a family of five with 3 teenagers. The place was excellently equipped, good internet, satellite TV, DVD player, a wonderful fireplace and most importantly for a family of five, 2 bathrooms! The garden was a fantastic asset we really enjoyed having a wonderful bbq, the garden house was equipped with all the bbq tools and a place to sit and read quietly. In summary fantastic location, quiet, very nicely appointed and would strongly recommend.

We recently spent a week at Chypons Farm Cottage near St. Ives. We found the cottage itself to be in excellent condition, very clean and tidy with all the little details taken care of. The cottage was stocked with all necessary equipment for a self-catering holiday, with some very thoughtful touches such as a selection of books and games, CD player and a wealth of information on local days out and things to see. Kate and Julian were extremely kind and helpful - we felt very welcomed by them and they could not do enough to help us during our stay - from welcoming us with a lovely homemade cream tea, through to recommending places to eat out and helping us with travel plans on our days out. They were fantastic hosts and made our holiday that little bit more special. The cottage also benefitted from a beautiful shared garden which was very peaceful and private - suitable for relaxing and reading a book in the sunshine, enjoying a picnic at lunchtime and retreating to the summerhouse for a glass of wine and a game of scrabble in the evening! The cottage was situated a short 10 minute drive from St Ives, with easy links to park and ride services on both the bus and train into St Ives town. I would highly recommend staying at Chypons Farm, and cannot think of a single thing I would have changed! In fact, we have already re-booked for next year and will be passing on our recommendations to friends and family! Thank you for a fantastic holiday! xxx

Hi, six of us plus a 7 month old baby came to stay at Chypons farm from the 24th may for a week. We all thoroughly enjoyed it. The cottage had everything you could possible need whilst on holiday even baking equipment which we made use of. We found the location to be good because we felt it was out of the way enough to be relaxing but close enough to the main roads. Lovely surroundings with a summerhouse and picnic bench to use in the garden. Thanks for a great holiday :-)

A very pretty semi-detached traditional cottage in a really convenient, yet quiet location between Hayle and Marazion. A charming cottage, full of character with low beams, traditional furniture and a very pretty cottage garden all around. Perfectly located for exploring west Cornwall and within walking distance of St Erth mainline station.
