Located right in the heart of the historic harbour village of Polruan on the eastern side of the Fowey estuary, this completely refurbished and modernised apartment offers amazing views of the whole of Fowey harbour. There is a great pub in Polruan itself, but it is just a 5 minute ferry ride across the river to Fowey with its fantastic range of shops, restaurants and pubs. The ferry runs until 11pm from May through to September which makes staying in Polruan and enjoying the delights of Fowey an easy possibility. You might also decide to leave your car either in the Polruan car park or in the Fowey Car Park, depending on what part of Cornwall you would like to explore. The Bodinnick vehicle ferry also allows you to cross the estuary quickly with your car if you wish to explore to the west.
The apartment itself is on the ground floor of the building with access through a shared entrance. The apartment is all on one level with the living room to the front, enjoying the fantastic view of the harbour through the enormous bay windows. There is a cosy wood burning stove in the living room which makes the apartment super warm when running. The kitchen is in a galley style and also enjoys the views. The bedroom to the rear benefits from a 6' double bed that can be split into two 3' singles if that is your preference for sleeping arrangements. This makes the apartment ideal for just a couple of friends sharing as well as couples. Outside there is a communal patio garden which also enjoys the views over the river.
Ground Floor only: Entrance hall, living room, fully fitted kitchen, shower room with WC and bedroom with either a 6' double bed or two 3' single beds.
Exterior: Shared patio garden with exterior furniture.

Polruan is based on the south coast of Cornwall on the river Fowey. It is a small village with only one road in or out. There are two pubs in the village, The Lugger and The Russell Inn, both offer an excellent range of food at very reasonable prices. From the quay you will find a passenger ferry that will take you across to Fowey. The journey taking about 5 - 10 minutes. Being built on the side of a hill it has, thankfully not allowed too much expansion and commercialisation and as a result has retained much of its charm. In the main street itself (Fore Street - as you will find in most Cornish villages) you will find the Polruan Stores and the Harbour Cafe, on the Quay is The WinklePicker Shop (which is also the Post Office).
There is a fabulous walk around the Fowey Estuary called the "Hall Walk" which takes in both ferries and Pill Creek and offers some fabulous views - this is well worth doing. There is also a beautiful beach at Lantic Bay, one of Cornwall's hidden gems. A short drive out of the village there is a car park then a short walk down to the beach.
Fowey (pronounced Foy) is one of the most iconic places in Cornwall. Set on the steep banks on the Fowey Estuuary, the narrow streets and alleys are just great to explore. Views of the harbour are dramatic just watching the activities in the harbour can keep you occupied for many hours! Life in Fowey revolves around the water. The local fishing fleet land the freshest catches and local specialities include mussels, oysters, clams, crab & lobster. There are some great restaurants and pubs around and nearby. Try one of Sam's restaurants or a little drive inland to the historic Crown Inn at Lanlivery is well worth the effort.
Life on the water culminates in the middle of August with the Fowey Regatta Week where yacht racing takes place all week. Watch the historic Famouth Working Boats racing in the close confines of the estuary or enjoy the many festivities around the estuary. There are countless attractions near to Fowey including the Eden Project, Lanhydrock House & Gardens and the beautiful Luxulyan Valley.
The Eden project is 3 miles Fowey 3 miles. Lost Gardens of Heligan 10 miles. Almost on the doorstep Par duck ponds & woodland walks link to the Clay trails long distance cycle paths. For garden lovers there are many open gardens to explore including Marsh villa Garden just 50yds away! You are in the heart of Du Maurier country with many places to find on the literary trail. Du Maurier Festival in May, Fowey Regatta August(ask for details). Consult the guide books & folders in the cottage & explore to your hearts content!

A wonderful apartment in a beautiful, interesting location. Everything you needed for a very comfortable stay. The highlight was the big bay window in the lounge where you could sit all evening watching the river activity and the lights coming on in nearby Fowey. It wouldn't have mattered if the weather had stopped us from getting out as it was such a comfortable apartment, with a glorious view, books and DVD's left to enjoy. The pubs and tea room are only a couple of minutes walk away as is the pedestrian ferry across to Fowey. Wonderful area for walking the nearby coastal path. Communication with Jeremy, the owner, was efficient, helpful and friendly. We would definately stay again.

Captains Cabin really does have a lovely view of the River. There is a window seat in the bay allowing you to watch all the River action in comfort. There was plenty to watch too whilst we were there. The Lugger Inn on the Polruan side has a great menu of fish dishes and also does a good roast on Sundays. Recommended, but needs to be booked the day before and in person, we could never get through on the phone. Be ready for narrow track roads getting to Polruan, there are several roads in and out of the village, but all lead to narrow track roads. Car parking was £25 for a weekly ticket. The Passenger ferry was good, running constantly at 15 min intervals from 7.30 to 10.30 (outside of season). It's £2 p/p each way and was a fun and relaxing way to get across to the Fowey. In Fowey we tried the Tapas Bar Pintxo, which was also good, but quite small. The Globe was also good. There are no large supermarkets or reasonably sized convenience stores in either Fowey or Polruan, so if you plan to have an evening in make sure you bring some food with you. One other small point to mention is that there is an oven and hob on the Kitchen of Captains Cabin, but not a Microwave. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend the apartment.

Really well equipped, comfortable flat with beautiful views. Great place to stay and explore Cornwall. The only downside was having to walk up a very steep path to the car park, where you have to leave your car. Already recommended to friends.

We really enjoyed staying in the Captains Cabin. The location and fantastic views were the main draw, but it has been refurbished and equipped to a high standard and every detail thought of so that it is a joy to stay there . We really didn't want to leave!
Cobbs Well is a delightful little traditional cottage which benefits from its own dedicated parking space which is a rarity in this village. The lively main street with its welcoming pubs and restaurants is a short walk down the hill.
A simply wonderful end of terrace modernised fisherman's cottage, full of character in the heart of the historic harbour town of Fowey with a fantastic range of waterfront pubs, restaurants, shops and galleries just moments away.
