Blackthorn Cottage is situated just two miles from the bustling port of Falmouth. Here you will find a host of shops, bars and restaurants, the award winning National Maritime Museum and Trebah Gardens which is not to be missed. Falmouth is home to some of the most stunning coastline and beaches, with Maenporth, Gyllyngvase and Swanpool. Swanpool is the nearest beach to Pennance and is only a 10 minute stroll along the coastal path.
Blackthorn Cottage is a beautifully converted old stone barn at the Pennance barns development, seven attractive barn conversions and three new houses set in an idyllic rural surrounding in the beautiful Cornish countryside. It has direct access to Falmouth golf course that has stunning views across Falmouth Bay. If you fancy a game of golf the Owners can book you in with preferential rates.
Accommodation
Blackthorn Cottage has a large kitchen diner with high ceilings and Velux window, the lounge is carpeted and has patio doors that lead out to the garden. The cottage has two bedrooms, one large master bedroom with floor to ceiling windows over looking the garden and an en-suite fully tiled shower room with double cubicle. There is a carpeted twin bedroom that over looks the garden and a main bathroom with shower over. The fully enclosed garden which is accessed from the living room has a large decked area complete with patio furniture, the rest of the garden is laid to lawn.
Facilities & Services
Heating is via central heating throughout. The kitchen has a range of modern equipment. There is a an electric oven and hob, a microwave, toaster, kettle, coffee machine, fridge / freezer, dishwasher, washing machine & tumble drier. The living room area has a flatscreen Freeview TV & DVD player. There is an additional flatscreen TV in the master bedroom. There is an iron & ironing board.
Miscellaneous Electricity, heating, bed linen & towels are all included but you will need to provide your own beach towels. There are parking facilities in a shared car park on site. Up to 2 well behaved dogs are permitted at a small additional cost of £25 per dog / per week or £5 per dog / per night if on a short break. There is a cot & high chair available upon request.
General Booking Information Arrival / Departure is normally a Saturday. Short breaks are available during quieter periods.

If sailing or messing about on the water is your thing, Falmouth boasts some of the most striking walking trails which, when linked with boat trips and fantastic water activities, provides all the ingredients for a great day out. Activities such as kayaking, fishing, coasteering, canoeing, and windsurfing can be enjoyed by the entire family, or if you feel like being more relaxed, you can catch the ferry from Falmouth down to the Helford River. Your boat trip will take you by St Mawes and Pendennis Castles, the Helford village, Frenchman’s Creek and the Ferryboat Inn where you can take pleasure in some Cornish delights on the Helford passage. Falmouth continues to rank among Cornwall’s most sought after holiday destinations.
Falmouth, the sailing capital of Cornwall, is renowned for being the third deepest natural port in the world, a haven for both cruisers and racers offering the sailor the last major port before the 12 hour crossing to the Isles of Scilly. Visitors to the Port will find the town teeming with coastal treasures, ranging from fish restaurants and boat trips to The National Maritime Museum, Cornwall next to Port Pendennis. Pendennis Castle built in the 16th Century sits high above the harbour with truly magical panoramic views across the bay. You can ride one of the Fal River Link Ferries to the beautiful St Mawes and visit Henry VIII’s sister castle or take a delightful trip around the estuary stopping off at either Trelissick Gardens or Smugglers Cottage for a cream tea.
Falmouth Regatta Week, in August is the town's major event both on and off the water, fireworks and the recent addition of the Red Arrows provides a spectacular back drop for some high class racing. Later in the year the Oyster Festival shows off the rivers heritage to the full. Pendennis Shipyard host luxury yachts for re-fit and and in June 2012 Falmouth will host the J Class Regatta, the most spectacular event since the Tall Ships Race last visited in 2008. There are plenty of places to eat & drink in Falmouth and recently Rick Stein brought his Fish & Chip Restaurant & Oyster Bar to Discovery Quay adding to the superb mix across the town.
A lovely clean & modern holiday cottage with a large enclosed garden. My husband loved being so close to Falmouth golf course too.

A lovely barn very well equipped and in a great location. We particularly liked the coastal path which was right behind the site.
