At the front of Appleloft is a lovely sized private garden enclosed by an old stone wall, ideal for enjoying summer evenings. The cottage has plenty of character with exposed beams and a quirky, slightly sloping floor. Appleloft was originally used for storing apples for the main farmhouse and some say there is still a slight scent. There is even a log burner for those cold winter nights. Forming part of Pencuke Farm, Appleloft is one of 6 holiday cottages where you can benefit from the superb facilities available on the site. There are 18 acres for guests to enjoy and some lovely rare breed animals on site. The cottage has a a private garden to enjoy, as well as use of a large communal garden with spacious BBQ area offering stunning views over countryside and out to sea. There is also a games room with a pool table and table football. Subject to availability, fresh farm produce can be purchased on site.

Pencuke Farm is only a few miles inland from the spectacular north Cornwall coast around Crackington Haven. The farm is located 1.6 miles from Crackington Haven, which is included in the best surfing beaches in England and was recommended by the Marine Conservation Society in its Good Beach Guide. The scenery in the beach area of the surrounding majestic cliffs is almost unrivalled. At high tide, the beach is a mass of quartz-veined pebbles and large boulders but at low tide, it reveals an expanse of sand and many rock pools. Only the road separates the sea from a couple of beach shops, two superb beach cafes and a public house with a restaurant and fantastic terrace.

The farm is located in the parish of St. Gennys, which prides itself on the excellence of its public paths with the National Trust owning most of the cliff and adjacent farmland. As you travel down the coastline, you can visit quaint coastal villages such as Boscastle, Tintagel and Port Isaac, the latter offering a range of fantastic restaurants where you can enjoy the freshest and most delicious fish.

Fifteen minutes up the coast is Bude, a popular tourist destination for both its surfing and fantastic family beaches in Widemouth Bay. The watchful eye of the RNLI lifeguards allows for some of the best surfing in the world alongside swimming and a whole host of water-based activities. Bude today is a lovely sea-side town, the main shopping streets and inter-connecting alleyways play host to a wide range of locally owned shops, restaurants and pubs. There are boutiques, shoes, arts & crafts, jewellery, hand-made gifts and souvenirs.

6 miles inland is Bodmin Moor, one of Cornwall's designated Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Cornwall at its wildest and rich in ancient history, Bodmin Moor stretches for 30 miles through the heart of the County of Cornwall and offers spectacular walking and horse riding. With easy access to the both the A30 and the Atlantic Highway you can quickly travel up and down the South-West to enjoy some of the larger tourist attractions that Devon and Cornwall have to offer.

Just what we were looking for

Appleloft was just what we were looking for Clean, tidy, room for two adults, two boys (Aged 14yrs & 10 yrs) and the dog came too (; The parking & self contained garden were a bonus and the games room meant that the boys could be independent & share a game or two of Pool - not convinced they were impressed when Mum won the tournament thou !! Would have loved to have stayed longer to explore the farm with the boys & dog but we ran out of time - half term is only so long. We were after somewhere close enough to Bude to be able to visit relatives a few times but far enough away so that we got to do 'our own thing' and this worked out well. Hopefully back again next year.

Appleloft

We had a great time at Appleloft. Everything was comfortable and clean. There was a good selection of games and DVD's if needed. The kitchen was well-stocked with equipment. The TV and DVD worked well. The house is very pretty and has a good size garden. The owners were very helpful and friendly.
