This comfortable bungalow is in a very special location offering far reaching views across the whole of Widemouth Bay. Positioned only a few moments walk from this fantastic beach, it is also a great base for exploring this part of north Cornwall. The lovely sandy beach is ideal for families and offers a variety of activities. Whether you wish to swim, sunbathe, surf or hunt for marine life in the hundreds of rock pools, this location has it all. The sun hits the beach for most of the day and the sunsets over the sea are simply magical.

Aalsmeer itself is a simple, yet comfortable bungalow and has all the facilities expected of a self catering holiday home. With 3 bedrooms, a large kitchen and sitting room, there is plenty of space. There is also an excellent walled patio garden to the rear where you can enjoy a quiet drink on warm evenings. The views out across the bay from both the sitting room and the master double bedroom are simply fantastic - this is a lovely place to relax.

Accommodation
Ground Floor Only: Sitting room with open fire and view of the bay, dining area and kitchen. Dual aspect master double bedroom (with 4'6" bed) and delightful sea views, twin room and bunk room. Family bathroom with underfloor heating and bath with shower over and WC, separate shower room.
Exterior: Front and gated enclosed back garden with outside furniture. No BBQ.

Facilities & Services
Heating is via night storage heating and radiators and an electricity meter which requires £1 coins. An initial supply of logs and coal is supplied for your arrival. The kitchen is wonderfully cosy and kept warm by the Rayburn (turned off June through to middle of September). There is an electric oven & hob, fridge / freezer, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine & tumble dryer. There is a Payphone in the dining room. In the sitting area there is a flatscreen digital TV & DVD player. WiFi is available at the property. There is an iron.

Miscellaneous

Up to 2 well behaved dogs will be permitted at a small additional cost of £25 per dog / per week, although please remember that dogs cannot be left unattended in the property alone. Regrettably no smoking is allowed. There is a cot & high chair available.

General Booking Information
Arrival / Departure is normally a Saturday.
£100 pre-authorised to your credit or debit card as a security deposit is required.

Widemouth Bay is a varied and interesting beach with a long open bay. At the northerly end of Widemouth there is a large sandy area that becomes more exposed as the tide drops and to either side of this the sand gives way to some fantastic rock formations. The beach is ideal for families, whether you wish to swim, sunbathe, surf or hunt for marine life in the hundreds of rock pools. Lifeguards are present during the season. These are some of the best beaches in Cornwall so don't miss the chance to try your surfing or 'boogie' boarding skils. There are a number of surf schools in the area.

For Walkers and Cyclists the area is full of superb routes and Bude lies at the centre of the most dramatic stretch of the South West coastal footpath. There are numerous local villages and landmarks to explore and much of the area ia a nature lovers paradise. Bude is only a couple of minutes down the road and has the full range of facilities that one would expect of a small town including a wide range of shops, pubs & restaurant.

wonderfull views. warm and comfortable

We had a lovely week here. The location is superb. You can visit loads of places within a few miles from here such as Padstow, Doc Martin location and many more. The food and the hospitality at the Bay View inn just up the road is great. We ate there every day. Waking up every morning with the sound of the waves, it's the most relaxing place to be. The new fitted kitchen is a bonus. We can not wait to return next year.

Wonderful location.

Our stay at Aalsmeer was very comfortable and enjoyable. The location was perfect for the beach, where our daughter, 11, enjoyed body boarding in the waves. You can learn to surf there too. There were excellent food places within walking and short drive distance. The property looks out over the sea, and although the furniture was a little dated, it was comfortable, spacious and had everything you needed. The only down side was the electric metre which requires old £1 coins which we had to specifically ask for in shops as they become more rare! Hopefully this will be updated very soon! Overall a very nice stay in a wonderful location.

Our Fifth visit to Aalsmeer as before always neat and tidy, we had a good week.

The new kitchen units enhance the area we could have done with the Rayburn on as the weeks weather was more like late Sptember than early August, we had a cou[le of fires in the lounge that were good. We will book again for 2018 as soon as we can, great cottage, near the beaches of Widemouth and Black Rock with good restuarants nearby.

Good value cottage in a wonderful location

This bungalow in Widemouth Bay could not have a better location, with beautiful views across the sea and along the coast. It has nearby access to the beach and is ideal for dog walkers and surfers. The closest path, however, is narrow at the top so anyone with a buggy to push or wheelchair would probably prefer to go along the road to the cafe entrance. It's also a good base for walks along the stunning South West Coast path. The cottage itself is comfortable with a new-looking fully equipped kitchen and plenty of utensils and good quality crockery. The bathroom also looks new and has a bath and good shower. The furniture in the main bedroom is a bit older, but is kept clean and there is lots of storage space. It can be a bit warm inside on hotter days as the water and radiators are fed by a Rayburn with few controls. However, the owner dealt with this minor problem very quickly and sent a plumber who sorted things very efficiently the next day, and rang us to check all was OK. Don't be too concerned about the meter to pay for electricity. I think we used about 5 pound coins all week! To eat there is the Bay View Inn to the East and Widemouth Manor up the hill to the West; both offer friendly service and good food at a reasonable cost. All in all a good place for a coastal Cornish break.

Peaceful and so relaxing

We stayed here for a week and found everything perfect. The beach is literally across the road which was great for Leah our Labrador as she loves swimming in the sea. The sea is so clear so we didn't have to worry about her getting dirty. The sunsets observed from the comfortable lounge and the sound of the sea from the big double bedroom were so mesmerising. The bungalow is well equipped with just about all you could possibly need. This is our second visit this year and we cannot wait to visit again next year. If you want a good meal, in a dog friendly pub, try The Bay View Inn just along the road.

A week on cornwall

It was an enjoyable week and we were lucky with the weather. We had a beautiful view from the cottage window of the sea with some lovely sunsets. The cottage was well equiped and comfortable. There was one thing we didn't like, and that was there was no way of turning the Rayburn down and we were experiencing temperatures of 25 and 30 degrees outside and the Rayburn made the rooms far too hot. The back bed room especially. Also the lawn with the outdoor furniture was far too high for me too climb up on to it, with no slope to it for anyone with leg problems. Apart from that it was great.

What a spot!

This is a lovely bungalow in an idyllic location looking out over the Atlantic Ocean. So peaceful and quiet, it helped melt our stresses away. The bungalow is fully quipped with everything you need and has a new looking fitted bathroom, as well as a shower room. The kitchen units are a tadge dated but who cares? They do their job. The bedrooms are large and comfortable and you can wake up looking at the ocean from the front bedroom. Spectacular sunset views from the front room make the views very special in deed. The garden is fully enclosed so it was safe for our dogs. Great to sit out and eat or just read and relax. We would recommend this bungalow and would book again when staying at Widemouth Bay.

wonderfull views. warm and comfortable

We stayed for a week, four adults and one dog. On arrival the house was warm and cosy with the sun streaming in from the large bay window in the lounge and reflecting off of the sea, the view was spectacular and even more so when the sun started to set. You had to watch the sun set from this position every day, along with a glass of wine, of course. The beach is literally across the road, which was lovely for the dog that was able to swim everyday. If you want a great meal, visit the Bay View Inn, just a minute down the road. The food is lovely, and the staff are very entertaining. Do not be put off by the electric meter we only put three pounds in and there was plenty electric left when we finished our week. We will definitely stay here again and can't wait, it is a real home from home.

Lovely Cottage, great location, two minutes walk to the beach, sea front bay view and Black Rock.

We had a great week 26th March - 2nd April, early part of the week the weather was YUK, but the cottage is cosy, well laid out, lounge with TV comfortable, just take your fire stick. The weather improved slightly allowing the boys to get in the sea with their belly boards, we will look forward to our stay in July, hopefully BBQ weather.

Great stay, fabulous location. Would stay again.

We had a wonderful week stay at Aalsmeer in October. The location was undoubtedly the best thning about the place. Despite my initial reservations about have to feed an electricity meter (having not used one before!) and finding everything switched off as we forgot to put our coins in! We were always warm and despite using all the electrical items, washing machine and dishwasher we only managed to put in about £5 all week!! The house has not been updated in some time and is rather 'tired', that said it was comfortable and everything worked well. The house had all the equipment it needed too. I felt a little sad that the place felt unloved, it is crying out for a deep clean in the kitchen and some upgraded bed linen! However we would definitely stay again, it was great. Thanks also to the owner for the speedy response to a couple of queries during our stay

Aga not turned on, got chilly in the evenings. Wifi kept going on and off. Electric meter should be updated, so you dont have to put money in it. Cleaning should be better, found cobwebs. Bedding and curtains a bit old fashioned. Otherwise we had great weather all week, the sunsets from the lounge window were great. Delightful stay at Aalsmeer

Aalsmeer in Widemouth Bay is a very cosy, and spacious place to stay. There is ample accommodation for families and couples alike, with stunning views from the front overlooking the sea. The sunsets are fantastic to watch after a long day either walking along the coastal walks, or after spending the day at the beach. The beach is extremely close by and during the peak holiday season, a section of the beach is available if you have dogs. I would highly recommend anyone who is looking for a cottage close to the beach, pub / eatery and that accepts pets to stay at Aalsmeer.

Room with a view

This bungalow was very well equipped with spacious accommodation and all domestic amenities. In particular, the AGA was a very nice addition and kept us warm and a great facility to cook on. Heated floor in the bathroom and the separate power shower were great! A fantastic location for Widemouth Bay, particularly if you're a surfer, and/or you have dogs, as the West Beach is dog friendly. Parking on the drive for two; and maybe three cars depending on length of vehicles. Beautiful views from the main bedroom and lounge of the west of Widemouth Bay. Bude is a few miles up the coast and Newquay is about an hours drive South with many beautiful coastal villages in between. I will definitely return in warmer months.

Second lovely stay at Widemouth Bay

Our second time around Aalsmeer and we were delighted with the improvements made since last year. The new bathroom was great. The new television set up was appreciated. The wifi made things much simpler. The cottage is situated right on the front and there is a footpath straight to the beach. There's 3 pubs in Widemouth but we only tried two of them. Bay View gets really busy and you will always need to book in advance. The Manor is at the other end of Widemouth and we had more luck getting a table. Both pubs are child friendly and offer great food. They both have great beer gardens. Bude is a short drive away where there are the usual seaside shops and a Morrisons supermarket.

Charming cottage, great location.

Lovely to be able to sit and look out at the sea and the surfers and walk along the beach across the road. We enjoyed the sunny kitchen for breakfast and then afternoon sun and sunsets in the sitting room. Furniture and decor are charming which I much prefer to a modern sterile apartments. Aga was brilliant at keeping us warm, providing lots of hot water and drying clothes after our one rainy day. Delightful books and jigsaws, and large TV kept us entertained though there was no DAB reception for our radios. Comfortable and practical throughout. Couldn't find a tea towel so we got one and left it for future visitors. Only had to put about £5 in electric meter. Good location for exploring the coast to north and south. Some leaflets and information about the area would have been nice. The little church nearby is well worth a visit. Walkers be warned the coastal path down to Milook is very steep and slippery - the road back is equally steep! Elements Restaurant provided our best lunch.

AALSMEER COTTAGE BUNGALOW

Wonderful property. The best place we have ever stayed in and as we are in our mid 50s that is saying a lot. As we are dog owners the property was ideally suited with a decent size secure back garden and access to the back from the front so wet sandy dogs could be put into the back garden and then brought into the light airy garage to be dried and brushed, so often a problem when on holiday. The porch was great for leaving wet sandy shoes and coats so as not to mess up the carpets. The lounge was of a very good size with 2 comfortable settees and a good size TV. and a table and chairs. The kitchen was big and very well equipted with both washing machine, tumble dryer and dish washer, plus another table and chairs. Although the electric was by meter we only put in

Aalsmeer, Widemouth Bay, Cornwall

The bungalow was comfy with great views of the sea from the living room and double bedroom. Aga was on which was very useful for drying towels etc and kept the kitchen nice and cosy (even though it was a bit noisy). Living area was also very comfortable and spacious. Fully equipped kitchen but bath needs attention (not everyone prefers a shower!). However, no-one was there to meet us when we arrived. The first night a light bulb blew and took out the light trip switch. I telephoned the owner and the caretaker but both calls went to voicemail, where a message was left, so no immediate help was available. No instructions in property on where the trip switches were so I was struggling in the dark to find them! (Nor indeed any guides on use for any of the kitchen/laundry equipment). I did finally manage to find and reset the trip switch with the help of a phone call to my husband over 100 miles away! That said, we did enjoy our holiday in Cornwall. Was not impressed that Cornwalls Cottages Ltd added a small percentage on cost of holiday for using a credit card (which was not made clear until the point of paying) and also tagged the credit card for an extra
