The Engine House is located on the dramatic St Anthony headland to the south west of Portscatho on the idyllic Roseland Peninsula. It is a quite beautiful conversion of an old engine house which once served the main house with electricity and water. It is a wonderful spot to spend a holiday. The unspoilt sandy beach of Porthbeor (considered by locals to be the best beach on the Roseland) is only a short walk from the property and the coastal path passes close to the end of the drive.
It is a haven for walkers as there are miles of footpaths to explore. It is also only a short walk down the hill to Place, where during the summer season a little passenger ferry will take you across the bay to St Mawes from where you can catch ferries to Falmouth & Truro.
This is true Cornwall at its most wild and beautiful. The coastline here is owned by the National Trust and the views all around the headland are fantastic. The beaches of Porthbeor and Towan rarely get very busy and the waters are clear and excellent for swimming.
The Engine House is fitted to high standards and will accommodate up to 4 people in 2 bedrooms. The kitchen is beautifully presented with an Aga and granite worktops. The living room is simple but stylish, as are the two bedrooms; there is oak flooring throughout. The main property sits in 4 acres of land, the Engine House has its own enclosed garden area.

I really just want to say that we greatly enjoyed our holiday; we were obviously extremely lucky with the weather which always makes Cornwall the best place to be and on top of that the Engine House was great - the most wonderful position, beautifully equipped, exactly as promised and extremely kind and helpful owners, so it could not have been better!

We had a fantastic time at the Engine House, thank you. 1. Thought the information you sent me up front with regards to the local areas was really useful, having a young toddler we found it really helpful with regards to beaches, places to eat, etc 2. Engine House was beautifully furnished, lovely, clean and bright and airy throughout 3. Beautiful setting and found it was lovely to have the windows open 4. In the evening, when it went chilly, we could leave the windows open as we were provided with lovely sofa throws to keep warm 5. The outlook from the house was amazing, with views of the sea and beautiful gardens no matter which window you looked out of, you either saw the sea or gardens 6. When dealing with the owner, nothing was too much of a problem, they were very friendly and helpful. We were made to feel at home and they always gave us a wave! 7. In the past, we have never been back to anywhere for a second time as we are believers that there are lots of new places to experience, however we would not think twice to going back to the Engine House

A wonderful relaxing break in this charming and comfortable cottage. A trip to St Mawes was fun and we would recommend a ferry ride to Falmouth which has lots of character and many lovely shops to explore. This is a great place for a peaceful, relaxing holiday with spectacular scenery and we really appreciate the comfort and quality of the cottage.

We had a wonderful week - we loved the cottage and have done some great things. The Maritime Museum in Falmouth and the Eden Project were good alternatives to the beaches.

It's not often that a place really is as good as it looks - but the Engine House was even better! We have had a fantastic week here, spending time on the beach, walking, a day out on the ferry, crabbing at Place, eating fish and chips and just being constantly amazed every time we next went round the next corner and saw more breathtaking views. What a truly beautiful place this is.

Don't want to go home! Super cottage, immaculate and everything you could need. Very friendly owners and friendly dog and horse. Porthbeor beach, quite steep steps, but worth it. Would recommend Glendurgan gardens, especially for kids.
