Carwinnick Barn is a beautifully converted barn and is superbly presented by the owners. It is a truly superb place to stay, being centrally heated and double glazed, yet retaining its undoubted character, with oak timber floors and exposed stonework, log burner and newly fitted kitchen and bathrooms. Located in a peaceful, yet extremely convenient location at the north end of the Roseland Peninsula, it forms part of Carwinnick which is a small luxury development with a further barn conversion and cottage also on the same site. Carwinnick is superbly positioned for those wanting to visit the Lost Gardens of Heligan or the Eden Project, both of which are less than 20 minutes drive away.
The barn benefits from a sizeable living space with a brilliant table for meals, comfortable sofas, a flat screen TV, a cosy woodburning stove and a fully fitted modern kitchen. There is access onto the patio area with its tables and chairs, ideal for al fresco dining. The property stands in gardens and grounds extending to around 2 acres. The majority is grassed, making it an ideal area for children to play and explore. There is a small copse where bluebells flower in the spring. In addition the Owners have set over 3,000 daffodil bulbs since the development was completed! The former enclosed farmyard is a wonderful sun trap and catches the setting sun and is laid out with limestone paved patios to provide both sitting and outside eating areas, weather permitting.

Facilities & Services The property is heated via oil fired central heating and the multi-fuel stove makes things very cosy during the winter months. The lounge has a large TV with DVD player. The kitchen has a washing machine, diswasher, fridge with small integrated freezer, oven & hob and microwave. Outside, there is a patio with garden furniture and a BBQ. WiFi is available on site, but may not be available within the units due to the thick stone walls. Breakfasts can be provided by the Owner on site at a small additional charge payable directly.
Miscellaneous Electricity, heating, linen and towels are all included. There is plenty of parking for a number of cars on the site. There are lots of good walks in the nearby countryside. Tregony is 3.5 miles away, St Mawes is 14 miles, St Austell is 5 miles and Truro is 10 miles. There are supermarkets in St Austell and goodpubs in Tregony & Ruan Lanihorne.

Carwinnick is within easy reach of both St Austell and Mevagissey.
Once a market town St Austell is the central location for visiting the South East of Cornwall. With large attractions such as the Eden Project on the outskirts of St Austell, The Lost Gardens of Heligan a 15 minute drive towards Mevagissey, and Charlestown mere minutes away it provides an ideal base for your travels. The coastal town of Fowey is a simple 20 minutes drive past the China Clay port of Par, offering fabulous restaurants, galleries and gift shops. A short car ferry across the river takes you on to Polruan. Daphne du Maurier spent her later years in properties in and around Fowey, a festival of her works takes place each May.
St Austell was once the major producer of the worlds China Clay, now with cheaper foreign imports the industry is in decline but The Wheal Martyn China Clay Museum set in two former working pits depicts the countryside in years gone by. Wet weather activities could include the visitor centre at St Austell Brewery, sampling beers and ales made on the premises. The brewery has recently started exporting their products across the Tamar River to England, so you may just find where your favourite brew is made.
Mevagissey is a wonderful little Cornish fishing village in South East Cornwall. Ideally located within easy reach of both The Lost Gardens of Heligan and the Eden Project. The tiny seaside village is packed with old Cornish cottages complete with narrow alleyways leading to converted fish cellars offering gift shops, galleries, pubs and cafes. Once a major Pilchard port, now the harbour boasts a smaller fleet, many of which provide sea tours, or boat trips to Fowey situated further up the South coast. The Harbour provides an ideal back drop for a fish and chip supper, followed by a stroll through the town at dusk.
With a 8 minute drive to The Lost Gardens of Heligan and 30 minutes to the Eden Project, Mevagissey provides a excellent location for the keen gardener. Gorran Haven nearby offers an alternative day out as well as Pentewan with its fresh water dock basin. You can continue south along the coast down to Caerhays Castle and Porthluney Cove. Cliff walks in all directions along the coast offer spectacular views out across the St Austell Bay.
We very much enjoyed Carwinnick Barn. It was a lovely place and the facilities were all very good. I would recommend it to anyone.
