The Lizard is an 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty' and has some spectacular coastal walks. It is England's most southerly point and the highlights include early Spring flowers, the Lizard lighthouse, swimming and surfing from sandy beaches, delightful fishing coves, sailing on the Helford river, heather covered moors in Autumn, open gardens and National Trust areas, pretty harbour lights at Christmas, friendly pubs and good, fresh, local food! There are loads of places to visit and highlights include Lizard Point, walks along the coastal path, a visit to Trelowarren Estate, the fascinating Goonhilly Earth Station, Flambards is great for the kids and you can step into Cornwall's mining heritage at the Poldark Mine. The harbour town of Falmouth is a must visit with it's restaurants, National Maritime Museum Cornwall and spectacular Pendennis Castle. There are so many activities to choose from locally. You can take a boat trip across the beautiful Helford River and explore the gardens at Trebah. There are sea fishing trips from Porthleven. There is great diving on the Manacles or from Mullion and coasteering is available for the really adventurous. The Lizard is home to the Cornish Chough if you like a spot of bird-watching. The coastline has many pretty coves and beaches to discover, but you can find great surf at Porthleven or Loe Bar.

Discover Polurrian Cove, a beautiful little gem of a beach which is a 15 minute walk down the coast, you cannot drive to it and hence it is mainly populated by locals, it is sheltered by the surrounding high cliffs and over looked by the impressive Polurrian Cove Hotel and High Point restaurant which also is home to a swimming pool and spa. Poldhu Cove is a bit further north, is owned by the National Trust, Britains most southerly Golf Course, Mullion, is dramatically perched on the cliffs above. Mullion Cove Hotel is 100m out towards the point above the cove and is well worth a walk for the spectacular views and excellent dining. Kynance Cove is further south down the Lizard peninsula and is a rugged popular beach thanks to the crystal clear water interesting geology, dramatic rock formations, caves, islands and cliffs, however get your timing right as the beach is only accessible at low tide! Cadgwith, the most southerly fishing village in Great Britain and home to the "Fisherman's apprentice" with Monty Hall is well worth a visit and while you are there grab a spot of lunch at the Cadgwith Cove Inn!

Lovely cottage in beautiful location

We had a great week staying at 2coastguard cottages. Lovely views of the coast from the garden and bedroom windows. Cottage was comfortable and relaxing for our family of 4. The location was great as well. Literally on the door step for the Coastal Path, 10min walk from Mullion Cove, 15min walk from village and only few miles from some fabulous body boarding coves (Poldhu Cove in particular) and Kynanace Cove. We would recommend the location and the cottage.

An amazing week in Cornwall

Our family of four (two adults, two girls under 12) had a great first holiday in Cornwall thanks to Cornwall Cottages and 2 Coastguard Cottages. We had a mix of wants from our holiday including walking, swimming in the sea and going to the Eden Project. The location of Mullion Cove meant we could do all of these and more easily, the South West Coast path is right on the doorstep and there are so many beaches and coves to swim in within walking distance we almost argued over which one to go to each time. The welcome package of milk, tea, coffee and biscuits meant we didn't have to rush out to the shops before relaxing and exploring. This gave us time to read the welcome folder, full of things to do, places to go and recommendations for eating and drinking. This led us on a short walk into Mullion to the Galleon Fish and Chip shop for dinner (a superb recommendation). Everything in the cottage was clean and tidy and on the day it rained heavily there was plenty to do in the cottage (books, DVD's and board games for a start). Mark obviously takes pride in his cottage and ensuring his guests have a great time, even if we don't get chance to come back ourselves we will be recommending the cottage to everyone we meet.

Lovely location with nice views

2 Coastguards Cottages is a perfect base for exploring The Lizard Peninsula. It is set well back from the cliff top with beautiful views overlooking the sea at Mullion and Mounts Bay to the West. (you can glimpse St Michaels Mount in the distance). The lovely South facing garden is perfect to sit in and watch the sun go down and the use of garden furniture makes it a nice space to relax and have dinner or a BBQ outside. The cottage is well equipped with all the necessities you need and a welcome pack of tea, coffee, milk and biscuits left on arrival. There was plenty to keep our little girl entertained when we were not at the beach or sightseeing, a real bonus to have books, DVD's and some games left for children's use! The cottage is comfortably furbished with two good size bedrooms and neutral decor throughout. Extra bedding, towels and fleece blankets were left out for our use. It really felt like a 'home from home' stay in this cosy cottage by the sea. We had a very relaxing holiday here and would love to return one day. Mullion Harbour and Polrruian Beach are just minutes away on the coast path and easily accessible by foot. There are great beaches all around the Lizard the most dramatic being Kynance Cove. The lovely Helford River is close by and a perfect place to spend a say or two exploring the creeks. Mark the owner and his young daughter made us feel very welcome whilst at the same time leaving us to completely enjoy our holiday.

Lovely artistic cottage

We loved the cottage and found it to be comfortable, well equipped and so artistically decorated. There were lovely touches such as tea, coffee, milk and biscuits for you when you arrived. There was also lots of maps and local flyers of things to do. I would highly recommend a stay at 2 Coastguard Cottages. Pippa

2 Coastguard Cottages

A real home from home located on the hill overlooking Mullion Cove. The owners had left everything we could have wanted for our stay including, on our arrival, fresh local eggs, milk, biscuits and tea. The cottage is within easy walking distance of two excellent beaches. Mullion Village with local shops, pubs and a restaurant and the local chocolate factory (well worth a visit) are also within walking distance. The cottage is beautifully presented and very comfortable with its own garden and sea views from the bedrooms. The owners have an array of fantastic books and games and our children found plenty to occupy themselves even on rainy days! This is a lovely property and we would definitely recommend it .

A Wonderful Place

A lovely warm welcome when we arrived, essentials to start us off - tea, coffee, eggs, milk and a card. It was great house and had everything you needed. Fantantastic views and alot of beaches/coves within a couple of miles. We loved Gunwalloe beach, although there were no shops or toilets, we could take the dogs on there and it was hardly ever busy! Our daughters went on a hack and beach ride with the Equestrian Centre in Mullion, they absolutely loved it! We would definately stay here again if we came back to this part of Cornwall - it was a family home that was really comfortable
